Papers, 1940-1996.

Professional and research papers of Cutlip, a noted public relations educator and former professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Georgia. The papers contain little instructional material and no true personal papers. The majority of the documentation consists of general correspondence; files on leadership in the Public Relations Society of America and the Midwest Public Relations Conference; and research and draft materials for speeches, articles, and books. The book files document Effective Public Relations, written with Allen H. Center; Fundraising in the United States: Its Role in America's Philanthropy; and The Unseen Power: Public Relations, a History. The materials on fundraising are particularly extensive and include examples of public relations materials from organizations such as the American City Bureau, Beaver Associates, and the American Association of Fundraising Counselors. There are similar materials for an unpublished study of public relations in the British government.
